Losing a Pet
Losing a pet is one of the most difficult things that any pet owner can go through. Most pet owners consider their pets to be members of their family, so their loss can be just as emotionally difficult to a pet owner as the death of a person in their family. Many families even hold pet funerals and bury their pets with toys they especially enjoyed, and cry heavily over the tragedy.
When a pet is brought into a home, it is welcomed with excitement, happiness, and warm love and attention. Pet owners are known to be loving people who truly care about their pets, and the loss of a pet can be a very difficult time for them. At our New York vet office, we understand what it means to lose a loved one such as a pet, and we often cajole family members when disease, injury, or old age takes their beloved pet.
If Your Pet is Dying
If your pet is dying, be sure to spend some extra time with the pet so that it knows you care. Soon the pet will be gone forever and all you'll have left of them will be your memories of them. Rather than attempting to play with a dying pet, consider spending some calm time with them and petting them. Talk to your ailing pet to soothe them and show your genuine compassion for their pain.
Tragic Pet Deaths
Pets that are taken tragically, such as when hit by a car, cause most pet owners intense grief while they deal with the shock and pain of losing a loved one. It is advised that someone other than the pet's primary owner handle the pet's body after death. Our New York veterinarian office can help take care of any diseased pet so that you can focus on grieving and moving on.
If your pet is dying or has just passed away, call the New York vet clinic for professional and courteous assistance.
